Sonia Braun is an artist - photographer, psychologist and open water swimmer. Her interest in photography began to thrive during her time in rehabilitation after a severe car accident.

For Sonia, photography has the gift of conjuring both the beautiful and the not so beautiful into art, offering an intimate reflection on life. The camera merges with the eye, giving us a new reality. In her images, water is the primordial element. Pulling on memories and swimming alongside them, she looks to vindicate a turbulent past and invites others to reflect on their past.

She has participated in various workshops in Argentina and abroad.
Her work has been exhibited several times at CCBorges and BAphoto (2018, 2019, 2020, 2023), Photo London Live 2020, La Boca Paste up in Buenos Aires (2021) , Galería del Infinito (2022), XIV Florence Biennale (2023). It is also part of many private collections in Argentina and abroad.

She has published an author’s photo book, “Nací Azul”, in November 2023, limited edition, Editorial La Luminosa, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Artista - fotógrafa, Licenciada en Psicología y nadadora de aguas abiertas. 

 

Su interés por la fotografía comienza de manera fortuita a partir del tiempo dedicado a la rehabilitación de su cuerpo a raíz de un accidente automovilístico. 

 

Para Sonia la fotografía tiene el don de transformar lo bello y lo no tan bello en arte llevándola a una íntima reflexión con la vida. La cámara se funde con el ojo mostrando una nueva realidad a descubrir. En sus imágenes el agua es el elemento primordial, y están  relacionadas con la memoria familiar. Tirando recuerdos al agua y nadando junto a ellos busca redimir un pasado, sanar.  

 

Ha participado de varios talleres en Argentina y en el exterior.

 

Su trabajo fue exhibido en varias oportunidades en el CCBorges, y en BAphoto (años 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023), en Photo London 2020, Paste up en La Boca Buenos Aires (2021), Galería Del Infinito, (2022), en la XIV Bienal de Florencia y forma parte de colecciones privadas en Argentina y en el exterior. 

 

En Noviembre 2023 publicó su primer Fotolibro de autor, “Nací Azul”, edición limitada, con la Editorial La Luminosa, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
